The newly renovated Courtyard New Orleans Downtown/Iberville offers amenities hard to find among other properties in this brand. Located just one block off Bourbon Street, the hotel is convenient to the entertainment and dining offerings of the French Quarter, yet offers a quiet respite from the bustling city.
RomanticSouth.com spent an evening onsite, making sure this property meets the requirements for a romantic escape. While a typical Courtyard property may not be one’s first choice when thinking of romance, this particular hotel has a secret – it shares amenities and charging privileges with the Ritz Carlton New Orleans. What does that really mean? For a Courtyard booking price, guests get all the same luxuries available to guests of the Ritz. Not only is this a boon, but the Courtyard property itself offers a bespoke decor that gives it a bit of upscale flair. We’re talking crystal chandeliers in the common areas, classy shades to the decor, access to the Ritz Spa, and even room service.
But what about the rooms? We checked out a King Suite while on assignment for another outlet (Business Traveler Magazine), but found this to fit the bill when it comes to romance for a quick weekend escape.
Courtyard New Orleans Downtown/Iberville King Suite
When entering the King Suite, there is a living area with business center, large sofa, television, and wet bar complete with fridge and coffee maker.
The hallway provides access to the bathroom, the closet, and wet bar. The bathroom has been upgraded to included an extra large tiled shower and Paul Mitchell bath products.
A barn style sliding door adds needed privacy to the bedroom itself, which offers a very comfortable King bed, television, and an interior window that faces the courtyard, providing the quiet needed for a good rest.
The Courtyard New Orleans Downtown/Iberville has a lobby Starbucks bistro along with shared facility amenities with the connected Ritz Carlton New Orleans. Valet parking is $38 per night and lowest room rate starts at $129 per night but varies depending on area events and holidays.
This hotel is a good base for exploring dowtown New Orleans and the French Quarter. Couples can find plenty of romantic moments from strolling the Quarter hand in hand, stopping to listen to street musicians, enjoying some of the world’s best cuisines, or even just sitting on the banks of the Mississippi watching the river traffic slowly float downriver.
